Hungry

I am so hungry today. Yesterday, I wasn't. Last night I made hubba falafels and chicken gyros with home made naan bread. After all that cooking, he tells me he isn't a big fan of the taste of gyros. Oh well. I enjoyed making it. Here are some pics.

For the naan bread, I used this recipe

They turned out a little on the flat side because I used regular flour instead of bread flour, as well as it is downright cold and they didn't rise to the full extent. They were still yummy.
The falafel's were super easy to make, and turned out beautifully.

And the end result. yummm... no matter what hubba thinks.

Ramblings from an insane Preggoooooooo

Hello!
Well, not much is going on today. I did myself a little shopping last night with a gift card from the holidays. I like shopping normally, but as I got halfway through the mall and I felt like I had just ran a marathon, that wasn't so pretty.
I wish I could have the endurance of a 5 year old with this body of a beer guzzling 40 year old guy and hormones like a woman going through "the change". No offense, beer guzzling middle age men and insane middle age women.
My hat is off to all women that have multiple children. I don't know how I would be managing this pregnancy if I had a small child to take care of as well. I hardly have the mind to make sure my clothes match. I don't think it even matters anymore, people are going to gawk at you anyways.
The gawkers are always funny. You can tell the compassionate ones, they are telling you been there, done that, you will get through this short period of physical misery. Then you have the teenagers that can't believe anyone could let themselves be so huge... I just want to tell them, cross those legs girls, because yes, this could be you! And then the terrified few that either think you are going to go into labor right then and there or go emotionally bizerk.
Enough of the pregnancy bitterness. I have not much to complain about, my pregnancy has been pretty easy and that is something to be thankful for.

Wednesdays

I always love seeing Wednesday come because it means halfway there but it can also be a downer because I wish it were Friday and I could be not working for 2 days.
Last night I made Bulgogi, homemade potstickers, cabbage and rice for dinner. Here is some pics of prep and final.
Potstickers boiling....

The Bulgogi marinating..

The Cabbage....

And Dinner!

Do you want to see some of the baby's nursery? We have organized it to a small extent...

We have the trim done, all we need is the baby!

The other project we need to try and finish is the bathroom...

Tiling for the floor is almost complete.

We should have it finished before the due date. It is getting harder and harder to get myself in and out of that bathtub, it is the most excercise I get all day! :)

Lists, Bags, Preparations, Oh My!

So, as it gets closer and I feel like the biggest whale in the world, I am preparing to birth this child. Hubba and I have been well informed with videos and books of the process. We opted out on the birthing classes. I was fine with this as long as he promised to read about labor and watch the videos with me. Let me tell you, some of the video seemed more like a horror flick than a documentary/miracle.
As we get closer, I am thinking and gathering all the items to pack for the hospital, I got this list off the internet... do you have any suggestions? Anything I have left out?

Mom List:

  • Bring your Granny Panties
  • pillow
  • loose comfortable pants to come home in
  • toiletries – toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant
  • Witch Hazel pads (what are these?)
  • Your own sanitary pads
  • Something warm to wear– those rooms are COLD
  • your favorite snacks and beverages & sports drinks
  • nursing bra, nursing pads, Lanolin
  • Pen and Paper were a must in the hospital - Also handy for a quick game of Hangman in between contractions
  • Birth plan
  • Insurance card and any hospital paperwork you need
  • A hair tie / Hair clips
  • A bathrobe, nightgown, slippers, and a couple of pairs of socks
  • Lip moisturizer
  • Something to read
  • Throat lozenges/suckers/hard candy to suck on during labor
  • Warm, comfortable socks that can be thrown out without hesitation
  • hand-held fan to keep cool during delivery/pushing stage

Baby List:

  • A going-home outfit
  • Infant car seat
  • A pair of socks or booties
  • A cap
  • Baby nail clippers / Baby mittens
  • 2 receiving blankets
  • Clothes for hospital baby photo

Dad List:

  • The list of folks to call when labor starts (OB, Doula, people that will want to come to the birth), during labor (friends and family), after baby has arrived (extended family and friends, Insurance, FMLA/work-related contacts)
  • Cell phone w/charger & extra batteries
  • Camera w/charger & extra batteries
  • Money for the vending machines and/or soft drinks in small cooler
  • PJs

  • favorite snacks and beverages
  • music you guys both like – you’re going to be laboring/waiting for a while
  • music that is calming to wife – for delivery
  • toiletries, such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant
  • change of clothes
  • something to read during the early stages
  • Watch with a second hand for timing contractions
  • Favorite movies to watch while in early labor
  • pillow
  • Laptop

Wow! you would think that we were going on vacation.

Oh and I think I win on what creepy finds you have in a new house... Hubba found this while he was in the attic...

Yes, it is a doll head of sorts that someone pinned on a styrofoam ball. I can't imagine how creepy it was for him to be crawling in our attic to be faced with this.

New Things

Hi Everyone!

I received a new gift for my birthday (early) and have started to take pictures with it. I got a fancy Digital SLR camera. Hubba and I figured that we would save money by taking our own photos than to rely on "professional" places. So I am updating the blog with some new pics of the baby's nursery. Here is a cradle I bought last weekend:

Here is a swing that was so generously gifted to us by Hubba's Best Friend's parents:

Here is a picture of my large belly, sorry about the speckles, I should have cleaned the mirror first. Only 6 more weeks to go!

I don't know what to think about this...

Woman Overjoyed By Giant Uterine Parasite

NEW BRIGHTON, MN— "I'm so happy!" Crowley said of the golf ball–sized, nutrient-sapping organism that will eventually require hospitalization in order to be removed.

On the one hand, it is funny, on the other, who thinks of their baby as a parasite?
