Henry's 3 Month Letter

Dear Henry,
You are a quarter of a year! I can't believe how time flies when we are so busy!
The acid reflux medicine has helped tremendously with your mood. You are still kind of a fussy baby but I think it is because you really like a schedule.
Daddy loves coming home to see you up (your brother usually napping when daddy comes home). He can't wait to come in and swoop you up and hold you. You give us smiles when we give you a peek a boo. You have the best smile.
Your brother is doing his best to help mommy out with you. In this month he has started wanting to hold you. Whenever we ask him about brother, he points straight to you and gives you a kiss right away.
My three boys have been so fun to have around. It has been so loud in our house with all the playing. I am sure I will have to get used to it.
You are so strong. I can't believe the muscles on you. You love standing up and being held while standing. Your hands are especially strong. You can pinch so hard and it hurts!
Even though the past three months you have been ill and grumpy, all of it melts away when you smile. I can't even tell you how much the room lights up, heavens open and I hear angels singing when you smile at me. I love you my little chubs.

2 Month Memo for Henry

Dear Henry,
2 months! These 2 months have not been the easiest on you or Mommy and Daddy. We have had an adventurous month. Your brother and you are definitely 2 peas in a pod. He loves coming up to you and hugging you.

Even though you are mostly grumpy lately there is one source of happiness. Your baths. You love a bath, you get your legs a kicking! Dad just lets you sit there and enjoy the warm water.
Unfortunately, you are mostly grumpy when out of the bath. You have had some pretty severe cradle cap and baby acne and we put you on some zantac for your acid reflux. The zantac tastes pretty gross so you make some pretty funny faces when we give it to you. You had your first Halloween. Daddy and Noah went out trick or treating and you stayed home with me to answer the door. Quite a few kids came to the door and you were pretty mellow that night. It was nice to have a little alone time with you. Auntie Sarah had to have surgery and have her gallbladder taken out. We accompanied Nanny to Boise to help . You were so good in the car! I thought you might have been grumpy on the trip but you were an angel!
Boise did wonders on your skin.Your face cleared up and you were starting to be a lot happier when you were there. And Auntie Sarah and you had a good time together.
2 months my little H. I love ya and don't want you to grow too fast.

One Month for Henry!

Dear Henry,
You are one month old. I started writing monthly letters to your brother Noah for the first year of his life. I loved writing them because so many changes happen within this time. So here is your first letter. This has been kind of a crazy month for you. You and I were doing so great after you were born that we left the hospital a day before I planned. I wanted to get you home and have the family together. Noah was happy to see you and we took this picture for your birth announcement.

I knitted all three hats in anticipation of your arrival. Yours didn't fit very long. At your 2 day check up the doctors were worried you were a bit jaundice so we took you in for a test and yup... you needed to be on a billi-blanket. You looked so weird all lit up.
You were on the blanket for a week. It was hard because I could hardly hold you because you needed to be under the blanket so much. You did so well with it. You seemed to be a little grumpy sometimes but who could blame you.


We were so relieved to be done with the blanket because it was a lot of misery and you had to get heel prick tests every couple of days and that was not fun for dad and I to have to take you in and have your feet turned into pin cushions.
You started to get a little bit of acne so you got prescribed some cortisone for your cradle cap and acne. You didn't like being wiped down with that.
You had your first halloween party before you turned a month old and you were a sushi handroll. MMMMM... you looked delicious.It was an emotionally rough month because mommy was low on sleep high on worry and could hardly cuddle you. But we made up for it.

It has been an adjustment going from just your brother to 2 little boys in the house. Your dad has been great and we could not have imagined it any other way. Our house seems to be bursting out of its seams with love and family. We feel like you have brought so much more love into the house. I feel so blessed to have you. You are so beautiful and I can't wait to see what next month will bring!

So today we tried to have Noah and Henry take some brotherly pics.

Henry's Birth Story

Henry's Birth story goes like this...
We showed up at the hospital at 12am on September 16th. They were all ready for us. The room was set up and we tried to get some rest after they put a miso tablet in.

I believe I was dialated to almost a 2 when I was admitted.

Felt great all night.
At about 6:30am the nurse let me take a nice relaxing bath and then they hooked me up to the pitocin at 7am.
That is when it was me and the machine.

My water was broken by the amazing Allison at 8am and then the contractions really started. Auntie Sarah showed up about 9ish and I was starting to really feel something (not what I wanted, I wanted to feel nothing). So about 10ish they gave me some narcotics. NICE!

I was feeling pretty good with the contractions coming and going and I was visiting with Sarah. She was great company. Daddy watched a movie and took a nap.
Sarah made this cute bear-dog-mouse blanket and while she was getting lunch for Dave and her, the blanket got a mustache. As you can see Dave had some time on his hands.

Pretty much at 11:30ish I was ready for the epidural. That was great! I was really starting to feel the contractions much more than when I was in labor with Noah and so the epidural couldn't come quick enough. We had made bets on when Henry was coming. I was feeling pretty uncomfortable and throwing up about 1:15. I told Sarah that I think I was ready. At about 1:40 I had the nurse check me and I was ready to push! We had to wait a little bit for Allison to come.
Then when Allison came I pushed 3 times in one contraction and Henry David Schutt was born!
Sarah cut the umbilical cord. Funny how I didn't get any pics of Sarah. I am a bad sister in law.

Henry's cry was so manly. It was deep and loud.

It was so great to know he was healthy and mostly happy.

18 Months

Noah,

You are 18 months! 1 month away from meeting your big brother. So much has happened to you in half a year! You have had so many firsts it seems that you have changed every day. Every morning your dad and I look at each other and say "did Noah get bigger?"

Your food habits have changed. You still love the same things but have gotten a little pickier. It is weird that you like spicier foods or flavored foods. This has been a surprise.

Fun new adventures have come your way since you learned how to walk. So many new places and fun has been had. You rode your first ride and you loved it, so much that you went 3 times!
We were afraid that you would be scared to go alone so we had Alyssa ride with you the first time but you were not fettered by the speed, nope, you wanted MORE!
These new adventures have been so much fun! Your dad and I have loved trying to keep up.

We have tried to spend as much time with family because the more people there are to run around and catch you, the easier it gets.

Camping was a new adventure for all of us. It took so much out of me that we had to make a trip to the hospital because I had a little bit of a fainting spell. Good thing Auntie Sarah was there to catch me. It turned out that everything was ok and baby brother was fine. You had no idea. You just knew that you loved playing with your cousins or it didn't even matter if someone else was there you played in the dirt regardless.

The energy hasn't stopped so we are trying whatever we can to wear you out during the day. Even if it means a little bit of naked driving.

I don't think that I have ever laughed harder than the last months. Every day you are getting funnier. So funny that you say a few words to yourself and then you chuckle to yourself.

With your brother on the way we have been trying to relish every day with you before we give you a little less attention.

It seems like you are not a baby any more but a boy. My little tot is getting so big. It has been so scary for me to think that our family will be changing. Guilt has rushed through me because I feel like I will be giving you less love when your brother comes but I know that it won't be less love but I will have more love to give you and your new brother.
So I better gear up because it seems that you are ready to go... go... GO!
