Lists, Bags, Preparations, Oh My!

So, as it gets closer and I feel like the biggest whale in the world, I am preparing to birth this child. Hubba and I have been well informed with videos and books of the process. We opted out on the birthing classes. I was fine with this as long as he promised to read about labor and watch the videos with me. Let me tell you, some of the video seemed more like a horror flick than a documentary/miracle.
As we get closer, I am thinking and gathering all the items to pack for the hospital, I got this list off the internet... do you have any suggestions? Anything I have left out?

Mom List:

• Bring your Granny Panties
• pillow
• loose comfortable pants to come home in
• toiletries – toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant
• Witch Hazel pads (what are these?)
• Your own sanitary pads
• Something warm to wear– those rooms are COLD
• your favorite snacks and beverages & sports drinks
• nursing bra, nursing pads, Lanolin
• Pen and Paper were a must in the hospital - Also handy for a quick game of Hangman in between contractions
• Birth plan
• Insurance card and any hospital paperwork you need
• A hair tie / Hair clips
• A bathrobe, nightgown, slippers, and a couple of pairs of socks
• Lip moisturizer
• Something to read
• Throat lozenges/suckers/hard candy to suck on during labor
• Warm, comfortable socks that can be thrown out without hesitation
• hand-held fan to keep cool during delivery/pushing stage

Baby List:

• A going-home outfit
• Infant car seat
• A pair of socks or booties
• A cap
• Baby nail clippers / Baby mittens
• 2 receiving blankets
• Clothes for hospital baby photo
  

Dad List:

• The list of folks to call when labor starts (OB, Doula, people that will want to come to the birth), during labor (friends and family), after baby has arrived (extended family and friends, Insurance, FMLA/work-related contacts)
• Cell phone w/charger & extra batteries
• Camera w/charger & extra batteries
• Money for the vending machines and/or soft drinks in small cooler
• PJs
• Something warm to wear
• favorite snacks and beverages
• music you guys both like – you’re going to be laboring/waiting for a while
• music that is calming to wife – for delivery
• toiletries, such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant
• change of clothes
• something to read during the early stages
• Watch with a second hand for timing contractions
• Favorite movies to watch while in early labor
• pillow
• Laptop

Wow! you would think that we were going on vacation.

Oh and I think I win on what creepy finds you have in a new house... Hubba found this while he was in the attic...

Yes, it is a doll head of sorts that someone pinned on a styrofoam ball. I can't imagine how creepy it was for him to be crawling in our attic to be faced with this.

New Things

Hi Everyone!

I received a new gift for my birthday (early) and have started to take pictures with it. I got a fancy Digital SLR camera. Hubba and I figured that we would save money by taking our own photos than to rely on "professional" places. So I am updating the blog with some new pics of the baby's nursery. Here is a cradle I bought last weekend:

Living Conditions

This is the way Hubba and I are living right now.

Classy, right?

Well, we aren't moving the furniture in the rooms because the varnish has to settle for 7-14 days. We also do not have a bathroom because it currently looks like this.

But at least we have this to fall into at night.

26 weeks, She's a brick house

Wowza!

Is this me? At what time in your life do you wake up and not recognize your body anymore?

I sometimes feel like I am going through puberty again, not knowing what to do with all the weird hormone changes, you don't realize how awkward you are (not fitting through spots that you could before). I don't have anything to complain about. I am happy to have a baby boy in my tummy and he is moving more and more.

New House, Old Issues

Hi!

Hubba and I bought a new house!

It is a wonderful place, but it needs tons of work. We are trying to get everything ready by Next Friday so we can move in. It is becoming a challenge, with me being 24 weeks pregnant and Hubba being tired from working almost every night.
