Grandpa

My last living grandparent died Thursday morning.
After days of sitting by his bed, being told he only has "hours, not days" to live we all would just hold our breath as grandpa would take each one of his. Throughout those days I realized that grandpa was such a fighter. He fought for our country in three wars, at a very young age, not even finishing a formal education. He then went and fought for my grandma for her hand in marriage. I loved this story because my grandma was so stubborn and thought that no one would love her and you wouldn't have met a person that loved her more. He fought for his family, even when we all thought he would be so dissapointed, he still gave sound advice. He fought for a good work ethics, every time I go to downtown Portland next to Good Samaritan Hospital I think about my grandfather and how proud he was that he made a good living from such a small amount of education. He fought Alzheimers, he constantly knew his mind was going but still would break out of the nursing home, tell me that he knew he sounded crazy but to bear with him. He had such a hard time with his dimensia and losing his freedoms. It was hard for me to watch as little by little he was able to manage less and less. This was a man that never gave up.
But most of all he fought in the cause to bring people to Christ. I can't thank him enough for participating in the furthering of the gospel to my husband, Dave. I never saw him without having some discussion about God or about how much he cared about the dealings of the future of the Church.
He was such a great leader, and though stubborn sometimes, I loved him dearly. I, being the youngest and only adopted grandchild, never realized until a couple of months ago, that my grandfather never treated me anything but of his own flesh and blood. I knew he had fought in 3 wars against asian people and was probably trained to hate them but he made me feel, probably like all the other grandchildren, like I was his favorite.

Grandpa, you were my favorite too.

20 and a half weeks

Ok, I am now 20 and a half weeks along...

I am trying to be better about documenting my growth this time around. I was trying to see how this pregnancy is different from Noah but I realized I didn't take than many pics. I realize this pic isn't very good but I got tired of trying to get a good one.
I am officially in prego pants and am feeling pretty good. In one week and a day we get to find out what gender the baby is.

Golf

Noah loves his golf clubs... they are one of his favorite toys. He loves carrying a club around with him wherever he goes. Today we took them outside and this is what we got....
And as an early Mother's Day gift, the boys finished the garden area and planted my starts as well!

Here comes the sun

It has been sunny lately and Noah and I enjoyed the outside today. We watched daddy fix the gutters and relaxed in our chairs on the patio.
Just the beginning, Noah baby. Many more days to come enjoying the outside.

16 Weeks, Rantings of Prego on #2

Hi,
So yeah. I am pregnant, again.
It was a surprise, but a good surprise. Not what I had in my plan book and it took me a little bit to get over the shock but now it is so great.
So without further ado...

Things I have noticed in this pregnancy than in the first:

1. I don't obsess about everything. I still worry about some things but I am not freaking out over every little cramp or ache.
2. I haven't cracked a book on pregnancy. I should but by this time with Noah 2 almost 3 books were read. Yep and if there was a baby blog, I was on it.
3. I am eating what I want... Ok, this isn't so different, but I haven't gained as much as I had with Noah so far. I probably will gain it later on in the pregnancy.
4. I am not keeping as good of tabs on this baby. Poor second child not as well documented as the first. I need to work on this.
5. Didn't feel the urge to tell everyone all as soon as possible. We took our time in doling out the news. It didn't seem as urgent to tell.
6. Not freaking out about the sex. I was on pins and needles, checking chinese calendars and paying attention to old wives tales to tell the sex on the first, on this one.... not so much.
7. Don't care about if I am showing or not. I was obsessed about when I had to wear pregnancy pants and if I felt like I was showing too soon. This time, bring on the pants! They are so much more comfortable.
8. Not as worried about telling people I am pregnant and then them thinking about how I got pregnant... wink. wink. Come on people I am married. What do you expect.
9. Was so sick within the first trimester with this child that I puked in a Walgreens parking lot and then sat through my brothers and husband laughing as we watched someone walk through my puke.
10. Enjoying myself so much more. I think I felt the baby already just a little flutter and am delighted with being relaxed and happy.

There you go second baby. Daddy and I are thrilled you are on the way and can't wait to see how our family changes with you. We can't imagine how much more our hearts will grow with you. My heart already feels so full.
