Story Time

Well. Where do you start?

Once upon a time in my 38th week of pregnancy, I was wondering why I had gotten pregnant. I had swollen cankles and my face looked puffier than marshmallow man in ghostbusters. None of my pregnancy pants were feeling comfortable and basically I was plain feeling sorry for myself.
On February 21st I had an OB appt at 4pm. So Hubba and I went in, I was thinking that she would tell me the same thing, everything looks good, and that I could go into labor any time.
My first blood pressure check was 146/90 and the nurse practitioner said it seemed high. Then the OB took my bp again at the end of the check up and it was 136/90. She suggested to us that we should go to the hospital for induction based on my bp.
Hubba and I went home and frantically packed the rest of the bag and made our way to Burgerville to eat my last dinner until I gave birth.
5:45pm - They place me in a room. Hubba checks it out. He enjoys the sink especially.

6:30pm - They put a miso tablet in my cervix to start the process. Hubba enjoys the water they
gave me.

8pm- They ask me what excellent hospital care meant to me. Notice, good communication and

good pain control- give me the drugs!

3am- contractions are starting, very mild. They give me another miso tablet.

6am- Pitocin starts, they start me at a 3. Contractions ensue.
8am- The great Dr. Higgins breaks my water. Not ever an enticing words as "I am going to

insert a crochet like hook and see if I can break your water" Crochet hook?!

9am- Contractions start getting a lot more uncomfortable. Measuring at 1.5 cen.

11am- Dr. Higgins checks on me, more uncomfortable measuring at a 2.

11:30am- I ask for some drugs through the IV. Oh the bliss. I could barely keep my eyes open

could still feel contractions but my mind was so foggy it didn't matter. Measured at a 3.

12:30pm - Got my epidural. The name Mark will always and forever be in my mind. That man

got it done and I was numb like a parapalegic. Slept A Lot.

3pm- Nurse Julie (great nurse!) checked me, by the way, I had so many people check my area

some people need to be more gentle. Anyways, I was measuring at a 5

5pm- Told hubba I wasn't feeling so well. Starting throwing up. Nurse checked me, I was

she was surprised that I was complete.

5:05-5:10- Had some practice pushes and hubba said he could see Noah's head go in and out.

5:15-5:30- Pushed through 5 contractions and Noah was welcomed to the world.

He is perfect and we can't get enough!
